Increasing the standard of education in the camps has been a focus for OBAT since the beginning. Recently we have started an English medium school in Mohammadpur, Dhaka. We are also managing 4 other schools and OBAT Tutoring Centers in Dhaka, Chittagong, Khulna, Rangpur & Mymensingh. We are also providing financial support on different levels of education from high school to Masters. In January 2010, we opened a computer center in Rangpur. We distribute books, uniforms, and other necessities for students enrolled into our school system. For more information click here.

Economical empowerment is the backbone of any society. During 2007 the micro financing project grew to over 303 individual projects in 3 camps in Syedpur. In 2008, eleven more camps were added and an additional 1,014 projects. Between 2007 and 2008 14 camps were involved and more than 1300 projects. They are mostly involved in businesses such as: rickshaw service, small shops, cattle, embroidery/knitting, repair shops, food service, sewing and other home-based projects. 2009 Qurbani/ Udhiyah program with the most forgotten and ignored people of the world, Urdu-Speaking people, commonly known as Biharis, living in the camps for the last 4 decades in different cities of Bangladesh.
77 cows and 160 goats' meat have been disributed in the cities of Chittagong, Dhaka, Khulna, Gaibandah, Bogra, Rangpur & Saidpur. For most of the families this is the only time in the year when they are able to have meat as part of their meal.
We have received qurbani donation from 14 different states (CA, IN, KY, MD, MO, NJ, NV, NY, TX, FL, GA, OH, & PA), Canada and some other countries around the world. This year we were able to distribute meets to almost 9287 families. We have exceeded our goal of 7000 families. Thanks for all the help and support.
