A graduate of Sindh Medical College, Karachi, Dr. Faiyaz Alam has devoted more than three decades to healthcare, education, community development, and humanitarian service. He currently serves as General Secretary of Dua Foundation, contributing to initiatives in healthcare, clean drinking water, education, poverty alleviation, agriculture, and environmental development.

He also has a keen interest in history, writing, and social issues, particularly the history and present-day circumstances of the Urdu-speaking Bihari community in Bangladesh. His return to Bangladesh after more than half a century further strengthened his personal engagement with the community and its social and humanitarian concerns.
I saw a need & decided to take it on…
Dr. Faiyaz Alam visited Bangladesh from 26 July to 6 August 2026. He was accompanied by his wife, Dr. Siddiqa Faiyaz, and his elder brother, Riaz Alam. During the visit, they travelled to Saidpur, Rangpur, Chittagong, and Dhaka, where they visited various Bihari camps as well as a number of humanitarian and community development projects being carried out by OBAT Helpers. He also visited Geneva Camp and provided relief to retain agriculture in flood-prone areas.

If you are able, you must visit the camps…
I would encourage anyone who is seriously interested in making an impact to go to Bangladesh and visit the camps. I go often now and I am continually encouraged and inspired by the progress we are making there. When you see these people firsthand, these smiling children, these confident young adults, these hopeful and hardworking parents and grandparents… it reassures you that you are doing the right thing. You are making a huge difference in these people’s lives and, really, there is no better reward than that.
If you would like to learn more about my experience in the camps and the work I’ve been personally involved with through OBAT, you are welcome to contact me.
