Nadeem Haque
For more than two decades, Nadeem Haque has been closely connected to the work of OBAT Helpers. Having served on the organization’s Board of Directors, he has had the opportunity to see firsthand the dedication of its team and the impact that education and opportunity can have on underserved communities in Bangladesh.
But in July 2026, Nadeem’s connection to OBAT became much more personal.
During a week-long visit to Bangladesh, he traveled to Dhaka and Chattogram to see OBAT’s work on the ground. His visit included schools, IT training centers, and, most memorably, a day-and-a-half retreat north of Chattogram with students from the Asian University for Women (AUW).
What he saw left a lasting impression.
visits to Bangladesh Camps
At the retreat, Nadeem met the second cohort of undergraduate women supported by OBAT Helpers at the prestigious Asian University for Women.
What began with just one student in the first cohort has grown to 15 remarkable young women today.
Every one of these students comes from an underserved community in Bangladesh. Many are graduates of OBAT’s primary and secondary schools. Each has overcome significant challenges, excelled academically, and successfully competed for admission to one of the region’s most distinguished universities.
For Nadeem, meeting these students brought the impact of OBAT’s work into sharp focus.
These were not simply numbers in a report or names on a scholarship list. They were young women with ambitions, talent, and extraordinary determination—students who had been given an opportunity to imagine a very different future.
“The unwavering commitment and sincerity of the teachers and staff are remarkable—they are actively transforming lives every single day.”
Seeing OBAT's Impact Firsthand
He saw primary and secondary schools serving children in underserved communities. He visited IT training centers helping young people develop skills for a changing economy. And he met students whose educational journeys demonstrated just how powerful sustained investment in education can be.
He came away realizing that, despite knowing OBAT for decades, there was still much he had not seen.
The scope of the work was staggering. The dedication of the people carrying it forward was inspiring. And the transformation taking place through education was undeniable.
The communities OBAT serves have also experienced profound changes over the past two decades. Families who once faced severe barriers to education, opportunity, and participation in society have made remarkable progress. Today, their children are pursuing higher education, developing professional skills, and building their futures.
Education is helping turn possibility into reality.
Nadeem’s visit inspired him to take action.
He is raising funds to help upgrade a primary school in Bangladesh to a secondary school and expand the IT Training Center/Khan Academy program.
Reaching the fundraising goal will allow OBAT to extend educational opportunities to more students and strengthen the pathway from foundational education to skills, higher education, and employment.
And Nadeem is putting his own commitment behind this effort.
